When I am picturing an urban city, I am imagining
business. Large urban cities are usually filled with yellow taxi cabs picking
people up to their new destination, buildings so tall that when you look up at
them they appear to be falling on you, many new restaurants and culinary art
and endless places to go. Particularly with this city that I will be visiting
soon, I am picturing the true southern culture but from what I am hearing from
others, this city has a lot of history regarding music, art, and the spiritual
world and I am very excited for that. I think that New Orleans will have
everything that you could possibly think of. I also do not picture this city as
a quiet city. It seems to be very loud and upbeat and from what I have heard on
the people, they seem very cheerful and that they like to have a good
time. Overall, when visiting New Orleans, my expectations are to be busy
but I am very excited to be busy because that will add to the overall wonderful
experience that I also expect this trip to be. Personally, I have never been to
New Orleans so I really do not know what to expect. I have traveled to Florida
and stayed there and have also been to Alabama and that seemed more southern
but in Alabama, I have only stayed in hotels and driven through it. One thing I
have heard about New Orleans is the seafood. That is sort of a downfall for me
personally just because I am allergic to it. I can have fish just no shell fish
and I have heard many people say "try the gumbo while you are there"
but I know there is many other options. Sometimes, I can be very picky when it
comes to food but while I am there, I plan on putting my biases behind and I
want to try as many new foods as I can. I really hope that they have some good
coffee to taste while we are there because that is one of my favorite things to
do on vacation-visit new coffee shops :) . For this trip, I am visualizing
everything based on what others have told me. Before we leave, I plan on doing
research on what to wear, essentials to pack etc but I really want to come into
this with an open mind and make my own expectations by the time that it is
over. I am trying not to have any sort of expectations so that I can just be in
the moment and enjoy myself while I am down there. I am also very excited to
immerse myself in a new culture that I am not familiar with at all and I hope
this experience allows me to grow as a person.
